Medicine Hat Municipal Development Plan Approved

On June 18, 2012 the Medicine Hat Municipal Development Plan (MDP) prepared by pA for the City of Medicine Hat was passed by City Council. 

The MDP represents a significant new path forward for the City. It seeks to manage growth through a balance of intensification and greenfield development, puts in place new design criteria, identifies multi-modal transportation options and prioritizes the Downtown as a focal point of the community. By using a series of principles as a guide for policy, the new MDP ensures there is a direct connection between the values of the community and direction of the Plan. In order to successfully achieve the community`s vision, the MDP also includes a comprehensive implementation component.

The passage of the MDP is the culmination of three years of work by pA and the City that began with the Growth Management Strategy, and included a series of consultations with the public, stakeholders, administration and City Council.
