
Edwin Urresta
Edwin is the Director for Latin America for rePlan, and affiliated firms planningAlliance and regionalArchitects. He has 25 years of experience as a mentor-advisor and consultant to national and local governments in Ecuador and East Timor, and as a project director and manager for international organizations and private corporations in Ecuador, the Dominican Republic, Panama, Colombia, Chile and East Timor. He has extensive experience in involuntary resettlements, land acquisition processes, stakeholder engagement, community participation and consultation, engagement with indigenous groups, land policy and land law development, legislative drafting, land titling programs, alternative dispute resolution, and legislative, parliamentary and local government strengthening. He has been the main negotiator and technical leader for the preparation of numerous Resettlement Action Plans under IFC guidelines for mining projects in Latin America, including the Pueblo Viejo and Cobre Panama projects. Edwin has several degrees in Law, an MA in Linguistics and a Doctorate in Jurisprudence, and speaks fluent Spanish (native), English and Portuguese.
