Jim has over 20 years of experience in municipal engineering and the construction of municipal infrastructure and housing. His work has principally been in Latin America and in northern Canada, and more recently in Africa. Since he began working with rePlan, Jim has acted as Construction Manager, Project Engineer responsible for site selection, and as coordinator of infrastructure design on many resettlement villages. Prior to working with rePlan Jim worked with NGOs in Latin America and private sector engineering and construction firms in Canada and Bolivia. In Latin America, he led project development and execution teams in small to medium sized towns in Peru, developing a range in infrastructure options and managing their construction and implementation. In Canada he worked as the construction manager and superintendent in the construction of housing and infrastructure in towns throughout northern Manitoba, northwestern Ontario and the high arctic.
In his role as Project Manager for northern Native tribal councils, in addition to technical work, Jim acted as liaison between native communities and federal and provincial government ministries, negotiating finances and agreements related to infrastructure and housing projects.
