Tom is a Senior Planner / Designer with over 30 years of design, planning and project management experience. As a graduate architect and Registered Professional Planner, he brings a strong community-oriented approach to the planning and design of worker housing and resettlement communities. Tom started his work with rePlan in 2006 serving as Director of Shelter Development for a Tsunami Reconstruction Project in Indonesia. In this role, he led a team of planners and architects in preparing community plans for seven rebuilt communities and two completely new resettlement villages, as well as the design of new housing and community facilities. Following that he was responsible for the start-up of rePlan’s new Alberta office, where he managed a team providing planning assistance to the Regional Municipality of Wood Buffalo in the oil sands, and assisted on several other major planning projects for the Government of Alberta. He has recently been involved in community planning, worker housing, and resettlement projects in Ghana, Burkina Faso, Madagascar, Guinea and Zambia.
